Rug Repair & Restoration Process
The specific process we use when repairing or restoring any type of area rugs will depend largely on what type of damage it has. The most common type of damage to a rug, for example, is frayed edges. Frayed edges happen over time when one spot starts to come undone, and it quickly spreads. If you don't have the rug fixed soon, it will keep getting worse until it has to be replaced. Another common type of damage is when the rug's fibers are pulled out or cut in one specific area. No matter the damage, we will take the time to fix it properly.
Our process will start with us analyzing the damaged area to see what we have to work with. In most cases, we will take the rug back to our facility so that we have the materials, tools, and other things needed to properly repair the rug. From there, we will hand weave the fibers back into he rug so that it is strong and safe once again. The fibers will be chosen specifically to match the rest of the rug in terms of the way it looks, feels, and the color. Once done, it will be virtually impossible to spot where the damage was before the repair.
